The idea for this song came to me while hiking a mountaintop high in the San Bernadino National Forest in Idyllwild, CA.

I’d adventured to Idyllwild for a weekend in this artsy village on the route between San Diego and the Coachella Valley. Though it was still September, when I arrived there was snow on the ground – a big difference from the 70-degree weather I’d left in San Diego only a couple hours before.

The next morning I noticed the sun glinting through a frozen ice droplet on a pine branch while hiking in the quiet, clear mountain air.

This image touched off the idea for lyrics to the song that became Kisses Me In Light. I produced this version in 2011, calling on a group of talented friends for this performance.

Many of my songs address environmental topics, a key issue for me since the early 1990s.

I wrote the reggae/calypso tune Give New Birth to Mother Earth in 1991 to help bring attention to the impending environmental issues challenging our planet.

Since that time we’ve seen a tremendous uptick in environmental devastation from increasingly turbulent weather events – a direct result of the climate change our Earth is undergoing even more rapidly than many scientists had predicted.

I featured  this tune as the closing piece in the Extractions Video I scored in 2021. That video is found in the “Compositions, Soundtracks, Audio Production” section of this website.

I’m featuring the song here as a stand-alone plea to acknowledge the challenges of the Earth and inspire us humans to do something about it!
